PowerPoint Tip: When designing a presentation, include white space to make the content easier to read and to emphasize key points. White space is the unused space between your content – whether that is text, shapes or pictures.

The most common presentation design mistake is to fill every inch of every slide with information and various visual elements, like the left slide below. The slide on the right is an example of using white space, with less content and open space to the left, right and below the content.

PowerPoint Tip: When you are designing a presentation, use contrast to get people's attention. It helps them focus on important points you want to get across. Contrast can be used to create variety, visual interest. The graphic below is an excellent example of contrast.
